A decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), is a community-led entity with no central authority. Smart contracts written in code on the blockchain lay the foundational rules. Proposals can be made and voted on by the community so that decisions about the project are made and agreed upon collectively.

A DAO operates as a distributed network for individuals who want to work together toward a common vision. Unlike a traditional organization, there is no hierarchy in a DAO. The rules of a DAO are established by a core team of community members and executed through the use of smart contracts on the blockchain.
Once launched, no one authority can modify the rules of a DAO. It’s entirely up to the community to propose and vote on decisions to be made. The right to create and vote for proposals on the Sovryn DAO is granted through staking the SOV token.
Once a proposal has received a majority vote, the decision is executed through the use of smart contracts which are chunks of code that execute once a certain set of criteria are met.
